Central PAC Tour - San Diego to El Centro, CA - Pre Day 1/Day 1

Hi there –
Today is Sunday, October 16, 2005. Only 5 weeks ago today we started the Transcontinental adventure and had the pleasure of meeting all of you! So today, as promised and keeping with the ride schedule, we will start sending you the Shutterfly links to the pictures and hope you enjoy them. We thought sending the links on a day-by-day basis would let you view them without picture blurrrrrr (as well as letting us keep up with the labeling as there are just a few (understatement) to label). The size of your screen and brightness settings could affect the look of the picture on Shutterfly. By the end, you will be very familiar with Franz’ helmet. And please excuse typos, slip ups in names and fuzzy pictures!
At the end, we will send the entire Shutterfly link - by that time all the pictures will be labeled. If you wish to use a different email address or do not want the daily email with the links as you may prefer to wait until the end, let us know and we will amend our list. We also included the email addresses of the riders on Susan’s mailing list who either had to leave early or could not come so they could see some of the sights as well. Hope we have everyone.
Today’s link is Pre-Day One (e.g. Saturday, Oct 10) plus Sunday’s San Diego to El Centro. As a ‘Special Added Feature’ – thanks to David Solomon and his amazing watch the Polar 725i – you can see the ascent/descent daily profile! We have also collected in a Word document, the daily emails that we sent to friends/relatives and will attach that tomorrow should you wish to read it.
Help: Does anyone have a picture of the route map at the end of Day 4 on arriving in Sedona they could send us – we missed that one!
The link below (hope it works!) then is:
a) Pre-Day One pictures that we took flying in (some over the route we would be following to El Centro), as well as the ‘dip in the ocean’.
Featured people are: Susan and the Support Crew, John Wolf and Tonya Jeffries, Manfred Brockhaus and others in group shots
Featured places: Aerial photos, the Ocean front of San Diego, and others
b) San Diego to El Centro
Featured People: Robert Moore, Dan Aaron, Anne Marie McSweeney, Anny Beck and others
Featured Places: Vistas, Yuha Desert descent, Irrigation and sluices, and others
El Centro statistics: http://www.city-data.com/city/El-Centro-California.html
The link for the first 81 pictures: http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8AaNnDZs5auWEH
As Woody does not appear to have an email, we will contact him to see if there is a means to pass on the pictures if he wishes them.
Hope you are enjoying the fine Fall cycling days!
